King of fruits – Durians!

Durians! You either love it or hate it. It is loved by people staying in Singapore and Malaysia.  When it is durian season you see small stalls pop up here and there selling durian.

This is my second time buying durian from Ah Seng Durian in Ghim Moh Market. They are popular and you need to reserve your durian before visiting the stall as you might return empty handed if you go without reservation.

I am buying Tawa and Black Pearl which I had not tried before. They are less pricey compare to Mao Shan Wang.

Left: Tawa SGD7/kg, Right Black Pearl SGD8/kg.

Tawa flesh is soft, creamy, sweet and contain mild bitterness. This is a rare type where we get them only onc season per year, unlike others where u can get it every now and then. It taste as nice a Mao Shan Wang but at a lower price.

Black Pearl is pale in color, for people who like that durian bitter and contain mild sweetness. The bitterness is not overpowering like XO so it quite suitable for people who don’t really take alcoholic drink. The seed is small and round like a pearl.
