Railway - Bukit Timah

Every train from Malaysia to Singapore had to pass by this Bukit Timah Station. When the government announced the closure of the track from Woodland - Bukit Timah - Tanjong Pagar, people flocked to take a last look at it as well as capture memories with camera. 

These were found along the track, some items were there for a purpose but other item was abandoned.  

This is the distance marking.

Railway – The Yard @ Kampong Bahru

When the government announced the termination of train services, I made a trip down to The Yard at Kampong Bahru. The Yard was not as glamorous as Tanjong Pagar Station, which had marble statutes, art-deco, neo-classical and local styles of design.

It was my 1st time walking on The Yard to take a close look at the railway tracks, trains and workshop. 

Tracks

Stopper - When you see this from afar, you better stop the train as there is no more track ahead.

Turner - They used this to turn the train head direction.

Workshop - All the repairs and maintenances were carried out here.

 

It's surrounding - Spottiswoode Estate, Duxton Estate, Indian Temple.

The Yard served an important role as the train stopped by for repair before starting a long journey up Malaysia. The Yard is no longer there. Goodbye.

Railway - Tanjong Pagar Station

Tanjong Pagar Railway Station was operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM), the main railway operator in Malaysia. The station was closed on 30 Jun 2011, train no longer travel thru Singapore land into Tanjong Pagar. Train services will stop at Woodland Train Checkpoint.

Tanjong Pagar Railway Station's exterior has 4 marble statues: Agriculture, Commerce, Transport and Industry. Above the statues are initials FMSR (Federated Malay States Railways).

Ticket Counters. Only a few people buying tickets. Is it people rarely travel via Train nowadays?

The next train will arrive in an hour time. I am hungry. Yummy Roti Prata plus a nice view oversee track. I like the texture of the prata. I don't like prata to be to burned and crisp. This one is chewy.

This is an interesting display in the center of 2 tracks. Is it a model of a old car?

Here comes the train and lots of people alighted. Tourist? Welcome to Singapore!

SLA announced that Tanjong Pagar Railway Station is now open to individuals and organisations for ad-hoc activities and events, subject to SLA’s terms and conditions.
