Day 2 Bangkok - 09Apr15 to 13Apr15

Breakfast at the hotel. Egg station, Bread station, Porridge, Rice, Salad, Fruits, Cereal & Milk, Coffee and Tea.

We booked for private driver for 3 days as we have 7 persons. 1st stop is Maeklong Railway Market, selling seafood, meat and vegetable along the train path. The train will come in at 9.45am and the vendors will quickly keep their stuff and tent cover, the train will move pass and a lot of tourist armed with their camera and phone take photo and video of the train passing by. Amazed at how the vendor making their living right at the train track.

Some nice food found near the Train Market. Tiny pineapple THB30 and coconut ice cream THB20.

Next stop we go for the floating market which is about 30 minutes car ride . It is charged by per boat  basis, each boat cost THB2500 for 1.5 hours and it take 4 pax in a boat. I did not check the price of others boat ride as it is arrange by the driver. The boat ride passes the residents house and some store selling souvenir and food. My advise is don't buy the souvenir, it is much expensive even after bargaining on the price. I found souvenir is so much lower at Asiatique. The food are worth trying. Bee Hoon soup, mango sticky rice, grilled seafood.

Our driver brought us to the elephant ride which is 5 minutes away from the boat ride. We did  not take the elephant ride as it cost THB600 too expensive. My sister-in-law's dad bought a small basket of banana to feed the elephant. THB40

We went Chinatown  for shark fin soup. Chow Ren Fatt visited this place too. On the window outside the restaurant they indicate there is shake fins for THB300. When we flip through the menu no picture of the THB300 fins, the starting price on menu is THB500. We thick skin and ask for the THB300. We ordered other dishes too to filled our stomach.

We walked further down the road to Nam Cheng for bird nest. Nam Cheng is right beside TK Seafood restaurant. I ordered the THB300 bird nest.

We walked along Chinatown while the driver waited in the car outside the shark fin shop. We bought food / tidbits for our relatives and friends and colleagues. Big bag of loots. Here is part of it.

Next is Asiatique. I thought this place not worth visiting, I am wrong. The prices are similar to Platinum Mall. I can find THB200 and THB300 stuff. Souvenir are at THB100 which is much cheaper compare to than floating market. They have food souvenirs, lady boy musical, nice restaurant. I checked the food souvenirs, they are same price if not slightly cheaper than the stuff i bought from Chinatown.

We have a simple Thai dinner at a small stall.

Lady boy musical is at THB1200, our driver got our ticket at TH900. The seat setting is like an night classical bar theater. Go there for a different experience. it comes with a free drink. For me 1 hr musical theater is too long n too expensive for me. At the end of the musical, the dancer stand along the passage way shaking hands and photo taking.
