Homemade Almond Milk

It is wonderful to have homemade food. Some people will say why so “Leceh” (Leceh is troublesome in Malay), why not buy from supermarket? Well, you get to control the ingredient to put into the milk and maybe a sense of pride. **GRIN**

Ingredient:
1 cup of Almonds
5 cups of water
1 vanilla pod (optional)
1 teaspoon of Agave Nectar (optional)

Method:
Soak the almonds in 1 cup of water for overnight

Next day, drain away the water and rinse the almonds. Pour the almonds and 4 cups of water into the blender. If you prefer thick almond milk, reduce the water to 3 cups. Blend for about 2 minutes till the almonds become very fine.

Strain the mixture with a cloth, I used the cloth meant for coconut.

Give the cloth a squeeze.

Here is the Homemade Almond Milk. You can add in the vanilla pods, cacao powder and agave nectar for flavoring. Enjoy!

Chocolate Buffet @ Fullerton Hotel Courtyard

Every Singaporean likes buffet! In Singapore we have International Buffet, Steamboat Buffet, Korean BBQ Buffet, Sushi Buffet, Dim Sum Buffet, Ice Cream Buffet etc. Pay a fixed sum and EAT ALL YOU want. Ops why am I making myself sound so cheapskate.

I am going to explore a less ventured buffet: Chocolate Buffet at a 5 star hotel – Fullerton Hotel. This is for friends to gather and chat at high class atmosphere. It is so different from cafés and bars which tend to be noisy. Everything seem to slow down, pace are peaceful.

Although it is a buffet don expect to find a mountain and a whole lot variety of chocolate. The spread is good enough that if you eat a piece of everything, you will feel full and overwhelmed by the sweetness.

To choose the 2 items I like most would be the soufflés and the hot dark chocolate drink. I try the 72%, 85% and the hot chili chocolate drink. My favourite is the 72%. The 85% is too bitter for me and the chili chocolate seemed to taste a bit like herb added. I like warm stuff so I do not have much comment for the rest of the spread.

The Line Buffet– Shangri La Hotel

I love buffets. What about you? Stepping into a 5 stars hotel is wonderful. The atmosphere is peaceful and calm. The Line is having orange and white theme, the bright orange just brighten up the moment.

Let's follow me on a journey to feast. I am the typical person who will start off my meal with the cold seafood corner (expensive items). The good thing of arriving early is that foods are nicely placed. Look at the prawns they are so nicely placed. I enjoy the oysters and prawns as they are fresh and juicy.

Cold Seafood Corner – Oysters, Prawns, Crab and La La

Sashimi corner, this plate belongs to my friend who knows how to enjoy the different type of fishes. I only eat the salmon. The serving is generously – thick slices.

The tandoori lamb is nice and there are 2 paneer (cheese) available. Personally I like the one cooked with the vegetable, softer in texture.

Indian Corner

The satay is nicely done, it is tender and juicy. I had quite a few sticks.

HK style BBQ Corner – Roasted Duck, Roated Chicked, BBQ Pork, Steamed Chicken

I ordered the laksa and it is surprising fantastic! I forget to take a photo of my bowl of laksa. The gravy is thick and fragrance of the spicy and dried shrimp simply makes me want to drink finish the bowl of gravy.

Noodle Corner – Laksa, Chicken Base Soup, Satay Been Hoon, Prawn Soup

Bread Corner

The roasted beef is great. My friend had 3 servings of the beef!

Tempura Corner

Many people have a separate stomach for desserts. Look at the amount of desserts. How can u not have a separate stomach? And I am sit just beside the desserts. Please go with friends and share the cakes if you want to try a variety of them. Hope they make the pastries into bites size.

The ice cream station is something different. You can choose your favourite toppings and the chef will “cook” it into your ice cream.
