Korean BBQ Buffet - Han Geun Doo Geun

This restaurant opens in the 2nd half of 2013 at Chinatown Point. My friend likes to try out new places and we have a craving for Korean BBQ. Bingo, let’s go to Han Geun Doo Geun BBQ & Ala Carte Buffet. Looking at the price and menu, we decided to give it a try, since eating ala carte elsewhere will come up to the same price or even more. Ops… I sound cheapskate.

Look at the menu, they have noodle, rice, soup, stew, side dishes and of course raw meat for BBQ.

Yeah, charcoal BBQ make the food yummy.

Let start eating the side dishes, it is self-service.

Here come the raw meats. Set them nicely on the grill. I like the boneless beef short ribs.
The rectangle block is the minced beef meat, that one can skip. Neither my friend or i like that.

This is a cooked dished – Pan fried pork with onion in chili paste

Saba Fish

Rolled Omelette with vegetable

 Dumpling boiled in water

Spicy grilled chicken

Next time have to go in a group so that we can try more items on the menu. It is an enjoyable meal.

Old Departmental Store – Chun Bee Dept Store

A shop started in 1966 as a department store was slowly been forgotten. When I mention department store many will be think those air-conditional department store with pretty sales persons selling all sorts of items. Chun Bee Dept Store is a shop at Circuit Road neighbourhood during its days many parents will bring their children there to buy new shoes and bag before school term begins.

With the appearance of big departmental store, people start to frequent Chun Bee Dept store less. The old couple open shop everyday just to pass time.

Look at the vintage cabinets, it have been there since 1966.

Vintage lighter wrapped to preserve the glory.

Wow, this is foundation powder, my grandma used this type long time ago.

Vintage safe box! Never see it before. WOW.

My eyes sparkle when I saw the bowl!!! I have been looking for it, a vintage bowl. In 1960 / 1970, company LiLing started to manufacture this table tennis series of porcelain cutlery. That is the big bowl I am looking for! WHAT?!!! NOT FOR SALES!!!! L.

Left that shop feeling happy and sad. Happy I get to see vintage items, sad I did not get to buy the bowl.

Traditional Chwee Kueh – Ghim Moh Market

Nowadays a lot of our food are made in factory, this Chwee Kueh stall persevere the spirit of making from raw material – rice flour and water. In their stall, there is a big steamer to cook their Chwee Kueh. I admire the old couple determination to bring to us food in the freshest form,

Their Chwee Kueh are as tasty as those famous / franchise ones, but it is the spirit that let the stall shine.

Address: Ghim Moh Market #01-31.

Super Brunch Oct 2013 - Ritz Carlton

It is an eye opening experience! This is my first time going to such an Atas (High Class) Brunch. It is not a normal brunch, they called it SUPER BRUNCH! It is held  Bi-yearly at Ritz Calton Hotel Singapore.

Extraordinary and elaborated Carnival theme.

Arrived at the hotel at 12.15pm and there is a queue at the main entrance waiting to register. We are welcome by a Italian brass quintet Citta di Pizzoferrato Banda. The music simply brings me into another world – Carnival of the West.

Hands were giving out champagne behind the curtain.

The desserts are the 1st food that greeted us at the main entrance. Circus Time!

Pretty lady standing in the middle of the chocolate table counter. Hmm, poor girl has to stand there till the whole thing end.

Wow, there is door gift provided for every guest - a mug.
