Hong Kong 30Dec2014 - 01Jan2015 - Day 3

Tim Sum breakfast at the restaurant below the hotel.

Sam Tung UK Museum is a 200 year old walled village, free entrance. I love to look at old buildings. Inside the museum, get to learn how ancestor lived. It is about 8 minutes away from Tsuen Wan MTR station.

After the museum, we took the train to the Disney Hong Kong. The train to Disney is cool, it is decorated with the Disney theme.  Just want to take the train and take some photos at the station. Not enough time to visit Disney itself.

Hong Kong 30Dec2014 - 01Jan2015 - Day 2

I love to watch HK drama and always get to see people taking the electric tram -  lots of stuff happen on the tram, such as meeting the eye candy or it is a time to sit on the bus to clear mind, deep in thoughts. Electric tram is one of the icon on Hong Kong Island.

We took the electric tram from Admiralty station to Causeway Bay Station.  The electric tram travelled through the busy street, nice view of the place. We alighted at the tram-stop near the overhead bridge where people “beat small people”,” 打小人”. This is one of the cultures in Hong Kong, where the woman will use a shoe to hit on a piece of piece and scold at the same time to beat away the villain.

On day 2, we are on a mission to hunt for soft-serve ice cream and frozen yogurt. We walked from the overhead bridge to Causeway Bay – Times Square. Let me have lunch before eating the cold stuff.  My crazy friend started off with soft-serve while I am eating my HOT ramen.

8th stop, CRUMBS

The best is Via Tokyo, the matcha taste is rich and strong! My crazy friend ordered 2nd cup!!!

We went Jardine’s Crescent Street Market, but nothing to buy there.

We went to Island Beverly Center, heard is has Japanese and Korean style. The price was on the high side. At the same time we did not like that mall as the toilet is not open to public. Arghh… I notice in Hong Kong some of the malls the toilets are for tenants only. I don’t understand why toilets in a shopping malls have such restriction. I went a few malls all have same practice. I have to wait for a tenant to unlock the toilet then I followed her in.

The late afternoon after CRUMBS, we went to Argyle Center (688 Nathan Road, Mongkok). This mall is more like our bugis street, where the prices are good. The only bad part is the passageway is pretty narrow and sometimes it is difficult to stop and take a look. My friend bought some earrings, a dress and undergarment. As it is winter season, not much we can buy.

Hong Kong 30Dec2014 - 01Jan2015 - Day 1

Happy New Year 2015! I have stopped updating my blog for 2 months, getting lazy…
For those who just happened to read my blog, please pardon my English.

My office closed from 30Dec2014 to 01Jan2015. I used this time for a short getaway to Hong Kong.  Pretty expensive one, as hotels charged peak rate. I find hotels in Hong Kong getting pricier compare to 3 years ago.

This time I stay in Le Prabelle Hotel cost SGD180.00 per night for twin sharing. When I try to use the google map street view, I cannot see the hotel. It is under construction.  I like the location of the hotel, just 3 minutes away from the MTR. Right below the hotel there is a Chai Cheng Teng which opens 24hrs, cool right. The famous Fa Yuan Street where ladies would like to go there and shop for clothes is within walking distance, about 10 minutes.

Wow my room is on the 24th floor, this is the view from the hotel. Room does not have wardrobe. There is space below the bed to tuck away the luggage.

Weather is cool, 12 to 18 degree.

1st day breakfast was at the café below the hotel. As the weather is cold, I order a set meal - Ham, egg, macaroni soup and hot chocolate – HKD 27.00

After a warm breakfast, we took the MTR to Tung Chung Station to take cable car to the Lantau Island to see the Big Buddha. Shocking long queue at the cable car station, waited for 45 minutes to purchase the ticket and waited for 30 minutes to board the cable car. What a long wait. The cable car journey is about 15 minutes, enjoyed the ride get to see nice scenery – mountains, forest, river and Hong Kong Airport.

Walking through the Ngong Ping Village; shops selling souvenir, food and drinks.

Wishing Tree

Famous for bean curd and black sesame desserts.

Big Buddha

Walk back to the Ngong Ping Village Bus terminal and take bus 21 to Tai O Village.

Walking thru the fishing village the times seem to travel back 30 years ago.

Hungry… stop at this café to have chicken wing noodle.

We took Bus 11 back to MTR Tung Chung Station. We took the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui and wanted to shop at Granville Circuit. Read that it is a shopping area for people who want to buy unique clothes.  Manage to find the building at Granville Circuit which sells stylish clothes. We did not buy any stuff as the prices are not that friendly.  We left the place in disappointment. We went to another building K11, further down the road.

My friend is crazy about soft serve and yogurt. We went over for yogurt at Smile Yogurt & Dessert Bar. (Tsim Sha Tsui, K11 Branch, Unit G15A, G/F, K11, 18 Hanoi road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon). Cost about SGD11.00
