I am not
Teochew but I am interested to visit the Teochew Festival at Ngee Ann City.
Entrance fee SGD5.00, at least the place is air-conditioned. There is an exhibition on how our ancestors
travelled from China to Singapore, tradition and culture of the Teochew in
Singapore.
The
exhibition is only a small part of the festival, they have live stage
performance in Teochew and it has drawn crowds to surround the stage and watch.
Live demo on
Handcrafted items
Gold,
Traditional Teochew pastries, preserved food, tea, embroideries
The main
highlight would be the food from China. Food are rather expensive, some of the
items you can get it much cheaper at food court. You are paying for the stalls to
come here, the rental and salary.
Fried Kway Teow alike.
Dim Sum
Duck Rice SGD10.
Kuehs - 3 pieces SGD10
Oyster Omelette. SGD15. Look at the panel cover with oil until i cannot take a photo of the cooking process.
I only get to
eat the oyster omelette. SGD15.00. It is quite similar to the Singapore style,
except is cook with spring onion and more oil.
